China imported 390,000 tonnes of pork during the first half of 2026, down 26.4% compared with the same period in 2025, when imports totalled 530,000 tonnes.
Including both pork and pork offal, total imports reached 980,000 tonnes between January and June, representing a 14.8% year-on-year decline from the 1.15 million tonnes imported during the first six months of 2025. The decrease was mainly driven by lower pork imports, while offal purchases remained comparatively stable.

Imports of pork offal totalled 590,000 tonnes in the first half of the year, a 4.8% decrease compared with the same period in 2025.
Monthly import volumes indicate that pork purchases remained subdued throughout the first six months of 2026, ranging between 50,000 and 70,000 tonnes per month, well below the levels recorded a year earlier.
The figures confirm the continued adjustment in China's import demand following the exceptionally high volumes seen in 2020 and 2021. Pork imports during the first half of 2026 amounted to less than one-fifth of those recorded during the same period in 2021, when they exceeded 2.3 million tonnes, while pork offal imports have remained relatively stable over recent years.
Overall, the first-half data point to a further contraction in China's demand for imported pork, whereas imports of pork offal continue to show greater resilience.
